Credentialing Specialist
Wayward Medical is seeking a full-time remote Travel Nurse Credentialing Specialist to act as the primary point of contact for our travelers nationwide. In this role, you will work directly with our clients to understand their needs and coordinate closely with clinicians to ensure all requirements are met for timely commencement of travel assignments. This position demands a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict deadlines. With a robust demand for travel healthcare providers, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring clinicians are compliant and ready to deliver care where it’s needed most.
This is a remote position, offering flexibility to work from anywhere as long as you meet deliverables!
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure all assigned travel assignments start on time
- Proactively identify client credentialing requirements, establish clear expectations with clinicians, and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain persistent follow-up to ensure compliance with credentialing standards by specified deadlines.
- Receive, audit, and uniformly save documents in Wayward’s internal systems, including Nexus and our shared drive.
- Upload documents to various online VMS portals such as Aya, B4Health, Fieldglass, Medefis, Nexus, Optimizer, Wand, and Workforce.
- Monitor document expirations to ensure all files are current.
- Conduct sanctions, background checks, and retrieve medical/drug screen results from clinic locations.
- Effectively communicate updates and statuses to Wayward’s Leadership team.
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflow and processes, implementing improvements as needed.
- Consistently achieve and surpass performance goals.

Skills And Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of successful credentialing experience in a travel healthcare staffing agency (preferably in travel nurse recruiting).
- Proficiency navigating VMS portals such as Aya, B4Health, Fieldglass, Medefis, Nexus, Optimizer, Shiftwise, Wand, and Workforce.
- Strong sense of discipline and responsibility to excel in a remote work setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail, driven by deadlines, and dedicated to delivering exceptional service.
- Experience facilitating background checks, drug screens, and other pre-employment requirements.
- Skilled in building quality relationships and effective communication without being overly sales-oriented.
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to ask pertinent questions to better understand and meet client needs.
- Exceptional organizational abilities to manage and prioritize multiple urgent tasks.
